Teaching Philosophy and Vision

Louis Stevens III - Teaching Philosophy Statement

“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” – Marian Wright Edelman

The goal of my teaching etiquette is to provide education that is knowledgeable, nurturing, respectful, inclusive, and diverse. I believe every student is entitled to an opportunity to succeed and that I have a personal responsibility to fulfill this gift. My goal is to create a learning environment that is safe, welcoming, and empowering. I want to instill in every student confidence and ability by providing them with both educational and life-long skills that will aide them in becoming fantastic learners and human beings. I want to create meaningful connections in the classes I teach from the knowledge gained and relationships formed. My classroom approach is one that is built on respect and trust.

I believe in:

-          Providing instruction that is diverse and tailored to the needs of every student

-          Building a classroom foundation of comfort and confidence

-          Making education a positive and exciting process for students

-          The importance of equality and individuality in the classroom

-          Instilling the value of problem-solving abilities in the students of tomorrow

-          A varied approach constructed by trusted educational research

-          Continuing to better my teaching strategies through practice and professional development
